Summary:
Helen is a young girl growing up in Belfast in early 1916. Her family background makes her experience even more complicated: her mother’s family are Catholic and her father’s family are Protestant. When Helen’s older cousins sign up to the British army, for very different reasons, Helen herself faces difficult situations which require great bravery and maturity.
