Mia sorella è un quadrifoglio

(My sister is a four-leaf clover) Book not yet available in English

When her little sister Mimosa comes into the world, Viola immediately understands that there is something wrong. Dad, mum, and even grandmother behave in a strange way… After a first moment of surprise, Viola understands that her sister is different from any other child. She will then discover the difficulties but also the joy that a ‘special’ little girl can bring to a family.

The book narrates, from the point of view of a child named Viola, the birth of her sister Mimosa. Viola soon understands that her sister is different because she suffers from Down’s syndrome. The story deals with the issue of disability from the perspective of a child who finds herself confronted with very contrasting feelings: her desire to protect her sister from often unfriendly situations, but also her need to maintain the attention of her family, which is busy with the difficulties that disability involves. The series “Ho bisogno di una storia” (I need a story), published by Carthusia, includes stories which are addressed to an audience of young readers, presenting complex situations such as disability, adoption and separation, with a simple unmelodramatic style.
