Baking with dad
This is a book about all the fun a little girl has while baking a special cake with her father.
The book focuses on the strong relationship between father and daughter. The ordinary activity of baking is made special, not by the suggestion that it is unusual for Dad to bake with his daughter, but because of their relationship. The cake they prepare is revealed to be for an unnamed man at the end of the book, suggesting a same-sex couple, but this is not a central or emphasised element of the text. This birthday party depicts diversity and parents of both sexes with responsibility for parenting.
