Un gorrión en mis manos

(A sparrow in my hands) Book not yet available in English

Summary:

Rebeca goes on holiday to a fishing village. There she meets Luisa, a girl with whom she lives unknown experiences and emotions. Rebeca feels disconcerted by her friendship with Luisa, as she is rejected by other local children who consider her a tomboy. So she debates between telling to everyone that Luisa is her friend or following Nacho, the handsome boy of the gang. Like a sparrow in her hands prevented from flying, Rebeca’s desire will be caught by her indecision.

Comment:

This interesting novel displays a story full of emotions and feelings about puberty: the customary will for freedom and rebellion of this age and the social conventions that oppress boys and girls. This book is a cry for freedom.
