Seksikon
(The Sexicon) Book not yet available in English
Summary:
The Sexicon is a better book than most of those concerning the sweet fruit of teenage sex. Teenage sex is more than just a one-night stand, although the Sexicon includes that too. Irena and Izar, the two characters, experience sex together step-by-step, from one embarrassment and concept to another. Since Irena is a Girl and Izar is a Boy, they each have completely different expectations, fears, joys, and pleasures connected to every one of those concepts. How to find the courage, how to build trust, how to show affection and how to deny participation – there seems to be a thousand questions more important than just where to buy condoms. For those, you only need some change whereas love and sex require time and much more. (source: publisher)

Comment:
This handbook of sex originally came out as a feuilleton in the teenage magazine Pil Plus. The authors Irena Duša Draž and cartoonist Izar Lunaček have done such a remarkable job that their work is now scheduled to be reprinted. The handbook discusses “everything about sex” in a simple and straightforward yet honest and funny way that will appeal to young readers, covering the topic from physiological, psychological, sociological and even medical points-of-view. “She” writes on sex from a girl’s perspective while “he” writes from a boy’s one. The book leaves nothing out – in it, one finds discussions concerning initial attraction, gender differences in terms of both sex and gender, (un)wanted pregnancy and other consequences of sex as well as sexual abuse and other forms of sexual violence. They are accompanied by clever illustrations and cartoons. The texts are written in a teenage-friendly way. Sex is described as a part of life far from any taboo, for which reason the Sexicon will appeal not only to teenagers but also to parents and educators. The book has received the Golden Pear Mark of Quality.
