Summary:
An adaptation of the French classic “Roule Galette” (Natha Caputo and Pierre Belvès, Père Castor) and the traditional Russian tale “Kolobok,” “Roule Ginette” initially appears to be a direct continuation of the traditionnal narrative. The story takes a turn when “the Old Woman” Ginette gets angry at the “the Old Man’s” orders and is magically reincarnated into the “galette”. Facing predators on the road, Ginette frees herself from their grip and finds a community of sisters with whom she can spend her life singing in the sun, her feet in the water, far from the chores and grumbling of the “Old Man”.

Anne Dory’s deeply ironic and absurd writing meets Mirion Malle’s rebellious illustrations (this is her first children’s book after the success of “League of Super Feminists”) in a humorous tale of emancipation. Ginette overturns the table of patriarchy and throws her daily life of domination out the window to join a joyful, free, and sisterly community.
