Summary:
17-year-old Isla lives in Tampere, goes to the High School of Technology and loves gaming. Isla’s closest and longest-standing online friend is Damien, but they’ve never met and don’t even want to, because that could ruin their friendship. As the fall semester begins, Isla meets Anton, a new student in her school. Everyone else loves Anton, but Isla finds him annoying. Gradually, irritation begins to turn into interest and a blossoming crush. Isla is forced to debate whether the deep online connection with Damien can still hold its own against real-life feelings.

The novel explores the life, relationships and feelings of a teenage gamer girl. Isla lives with her dad and little sister Iiris as their mother has died of cancer. Isla is part of online communities and has virtual friendships that were created through gaming, but she also has face-to-face relationships. A young girl’s feelings, having a crush and eventually having first sexual experiments are described in a fresh and respectful way. The novel also comments on how attitudes towards young girls in the gaming world can still be sexist.
