Summary:
The book’s two halves are printed back to back and top to bottom, so that on one side Corentin wakes up one morning as Corinne and on the other Corinne wakes up as Corentin. For both “Cocos,” daily life, including school and friends both male and female, is turned on its head.

Comment:
The hilarious adventure of two children suddenly turned into the other gender at an age when male / female identities are taking shape, not only in the school playground but also in the attitudes of the adults around them. Two witty stories that make the most of the topsy-turvy layout to explore the relationship between boys and girls. [Source: Electre] The two stories are based on highly clichéd visions of boys and girls but do explore how they are seen without judging – not only how girls see boys and vice versa, but also how parents, teachers, and the canteen staff see both. What is expected of girls, and of boys? Can that point of view be reversed? The end leaves the questions open.
