(Drops on the Stone: 50 Stories of Czech and Slovak Rebels) Book not yet available in English
Summary:
50 remarkable stories of remarkable women – Stories of fifty women and girls from the Czech lands and Slovakia, who moved boundaries. Inconspicuous but tenacious rebels fought for women’s rights, strived to apply themselves in art, sport, or science. While some of them used real weapons, mostly they only had their voices, skills, perseverance, and love for their country. Some well-known, some forgotten, but all of them deserving of our attention, because, like drops on a stone, step by step, they built the paths for the next ones.

Comment:
Women are often overlooked in history, and their deeds rarely make it into history textbooks. This book offers an overview of some important women from Czechia and Slovakia who can be an inspiration not only for pupils and students. It disrupts the historical narrative focused on men and major historical events and highlights the important role and deeds of women, even in times when they had to fight for the right to express themselves.
