Summary:
Lucien hates football, training sessions, and running after a ball that keeps rolling away all the time. When he is put in goal by the coach known as The Terror, he accidentally makes a brilliant save with his head. The Terror and his team foresee a dazzling footballing future for him, but as Lucien has already said, he hates the game.

Comment:
J’aime pas le foot (“I don’t like football”) is the latest in the series by the author and illustrator. Other titles are J’aime pas être belle (“I don’t like being pretty”), J’aime pas être grand (“I don’t like being tall”), and J’aime pas la danse (“I don’t like dance”). The four titles all follow the same basic premise. Each child has to face a situation he or she dislikes. In J’aime pas le foot (“I don’t like football”), Lucien has a hard time to start with but is then showered with praise by his team after a feat of prowess in goal. Except it was a complete fluke. When it comes down to it, he still doesn’t like football and nothing will change his mind. Just like girls are allowed to like and play football, boys are allowed not to like it and not to want to play it.
