Summary:
The sentence “I am Linus” marks the beginning of his new life in the summer of 2017. A life that is no longer marked by shame, but by liberation. Linus Giese openly talks about his journey as a trans man and why his life today, though not easier, is much happier. He talks about his second puberty, euphoric feelings, self-doubt, oppressive doctor’s visits, bureaucratic hurdles, friendship, and solidarity. Since coming out, he has repeatedly encountered hatred. However, silence is no longer an option for him.

A sentence that sounds like a matter of course – “I am Linus” – instead divides his life into a before and after. Linus Giese impressively recounts why he had to reach the age of thirty-one to say out loud that he is a man and trans, and why his life today may not be easier, but is much happier.
