(Ha-ppy!) Book not yet available in English

Today is the big day: Grobull, King of the Bulls, is to choose a wife for his son Jean-Georges. The “tyrant” decides to be generous: his lad can choose whoever he likes, as long as it makes him happy. Cows hoping to become the blushing bride throng the palace, but none of them catches the prince’s eye, as Jean-Georges is secretly already in love.

A witty picture book with comical dialogue and pictures. Jean-Georges chooses his friend Hubert the ram, who has long been his secret boyfriend. It’s what his father wants: a love marriage by choosing someone that will make him happy – a cow, a sow, a nanny goat, or even a hen. The portrait of the father as the tyrannical bull is interesting as well as funny: behind the male stereotype is a character who gets cross when his son cannot find the animal who will make him happy. He was expecting a female but in the end clearly accepts Hubert, as the wedding does take place.
