Comment:
Originally published in 1989, this controversial and often-banned book is one of the first to adress the topic of same-sex families in a positive light. This updated version is dedicated to how Heather’s mommies were friends for a long time, fell in love and decided to live together, how they created a family, visited a fertility doctor and extended their family with a child. As the kids in the story begin to discuss the diversity of their own families, Heather realises that it doesn’t matter who makes up a family but the most important thing is that all the people in it love one another. It can be an extremely helpful book since it addresses some of the concerns of young children of same-sex parents.
