Summary:

Kai and Mandi have always known each other. They have been dancing in the same street dance group for years now. People usually think that they are dating, but it could not be farther from the truth: Mandi is gay and Kai is not interested in anyone in a sexual way. Kai is tired of assumptions concerning his sexuality and he tells Mandi that he’s asexual. Mandi is scared of approaching girls, as she thinks they might think of her as a predator. When Mandi forms a crush on Vilma from the dance school, Kai feels left out and it affects their friendship.

Comment:

In this verse novel two young friends ponder their sexualities and identities. People make assumptions about others, which are not true. It can make the person in question feel anxiety and pressure. This is how Kai is feeling, when understanding that he is asexual and aromantic. When his best friend Mandi falls in love and starts dating a girl, Kai feels left out. He is anxious because he doesn’t want their friendship to change.
