Drôle de planète!

(What an odd planet!) Book not yet available in English

On a planet unknown to earthlings, a professor asks his students the difference between males and females. Each one then comes up with their own hypothesis: the males have short hair on their heads, the females wear trousers with only one leg, the males run after a round thing that rolls, the females paint their faces… Yet the solution is easier than it seems! Written by the winning class of the 2012 Lire Égaux (Reading Equality) competition with illustrations by Gwen Keraval, this book is a useful and effective tool to deconstruct stereotypes about boys and girls from an early age, by underlining the cultural diversity existing on earth. The humorous tone and the strategy of estrangement work perfectly to dismantle prejudice, but also to teach boys and girls the difference between two concepts that today are at the centre of important social debates, that is, sex and gender.
