Die Wut, die bleibt

(The Anger that Remains) Book not yet available in English

Summary:

Helene, mother of three, gets up from the dinner table, goes to the balcony, and plunges to her death without a word. The family is in shock. Suddenly, they are missing everything that had held them together up until now: love, care, security. Helene’s best friend Sarah, who both envied and pitied Helene because of her family, is drawn into the maelstrom of grief and chaos. Lola, Helene’s eldest daughter, searches for a way to cope with her emotions and focuses on the feeling that is strongest: anger.

Comment:

In this feminist novel, Mareike Fallwickl dramatically outlines what happens when an exhausted mother gives up, describing the gaps she leaves behind and the female anger that remains. She dissects taboo topics and outdated role models, rubbing salt in the gaping wounds of our society.
