50 minutes avec toi

(50 minutes with you) Book not yet available in English

Summary:

A monologue narrated by a young man of seventeen. His father is unconscious on the floor in front of him, yet he does not call for an ambulance. He spends fifty minutes railing against the physical and verbal violence inflicted on him since he was seven. Only Camille, the young man he is in love with, can teach him to love again.

Comment:

A powerful, striking text on child abuse. The narrator recalls the humiliations and violence he has suffered at the hands of his father, who cannot overcome his own demons. A superb literary monologue, awarded the Prix Tatoulu and a prize for the best new play for young people.
