Summary:
“Farewell, Diary!” is a contemporary story about the mishaps of a Bulgarian fifth-grader who begins the school year in a new school, but loses his expensive phone on the first day. To live without a phone nowadays is absolutely unthinkable and if his parents find out he took the phone to school, the consequences will be catastrophical. That’s why our protagonist and his best friend Doncho set off to find a phone they suspect has been stolen. During their investigation, however, the boy will offend the only student who was kind to him and the girl who he secretly (even to himself) has a crush on. Meanwhile the author of the diary will learn some truths about the important things in life and find new friends… without even searching on Google!

The novel is written in the language of today’s children and talks about their everyday lives. In a lighter, more immediate and relevant way, the book touches on themes of family, friendship, loyalty, admitting one’s mistakes, as well as the difficulties of being neither too small nor too big.
