Summary:
Still only but a small child, Kera loses her mother, and with her – the warm affection and care in the family. The little girl learns hard work early on and encounters unfair treatment. But with hardships come small human joys – moments with a faithful friend, first love, and sit-ins. Kera grows up beautiful, strong, and with kindness in her heart, which she never loses, even during the most unbearable trials.
Strange dreams from the distant past, however, haunt her nights. In them, Kerana, professing the Bogomil teachings, walks a difficult path to fulfill her sacred mission. And her fate seems to be intertwined with that of Kera.

Comment:
The novel “Kera” is an emotionally impactful attempt to search for the roots of the Bulgarian soul and a revelation of how historical cataclysms are a test of a woman’s mission to be a mother, wife, and lover.
