Comment:
First published in 1991, this is one of the first books to treat the topic of same-sex families in a positive light. The two men do the same things that heterosexual couples do: they cook, they take care of the children, they argue. When the boy asks what being gay means, his mother simply explains, “Being gay is just one more kind of love, and love is the best kind of happiness.” The book has become one of the most challenged titles in recent years.
