Summary:
Evelyn is both shocked and captivated when a new boy comes to her class and tells everyone his name is Queen. He wears shiny gym shorts and wants to organize a chess/environment club. His father plays weird loud music and has tattoos. How will the class react? How will Evelyn?

This is a short, but powerful book about acceptance, respect, and self-affirmation. Told from Evelyn’s point of view, the story shows how she learns to embrace her individuality, her uniqueness, and to discover ways to express it. Thus, Queen can be seen not only as a friend but also as a mentor, who shows her how to get along in the world with confidence. Due to his name and looks, Queen is bullied by some of his classmates but the way he deals with it provides Evelyn with an example on what it means to be true to one’s self and embrace differences in others.
