Summary:
This book is set in Dublin in 1912 and tells the story of Mollie Carberry, a young girl who finds out her older sister is involved in the suffragette movement, the campaign to allow women to vote. Mollie begins to investigate, and she and her friend Nora are soon drawn into action.

Comment:
The focus on the suffragette movement and Mollie’s sister’s involvement in the movement means the emphasis on women’s rights, and participation in direct political action is central throughout. However, equally important is the way Mollie develops an active participation in changing the world around her, as she realises that the suffragette movement is directly relevant to her life as a young woman.
