Through a series of illustrations and comics, the author deals with the themes of gender differences, and sexual and gender identity, in a light, ironic and funny way, starting from the experiences of girls and boys, their interests and their real curiosities, by using their language style. The girls observe the boys and list all the reasons why they should be avoided, a first stage for a healthy encounter-conflict between the two genders, an issue that girls and boys experience in their daily lives. The author thus offers an opportunity to reflect on differences and on their recognition as an essential moment for knowing, appreciating, and respecting the others. Facchini also wrote a version of this book from the girls’ point of view, called I maschi non mi piacciono perché (“I don’t like boys because”). (First published in Italy in 1998)
