Summary:
The princess and the knight both enjoy a good fight. She meets a wolf and kicks its bottom, the knight does the same to a dragon. The princess and the knight meet, fight, and then fall in love. The wolf and the dragon turn up in a mad rage, thirsting for revenge. The princess and the knight are in a tricky position but they escape unscathed because as soon as the wolf and the dragon set eyes on each other, they fall in love and go off together.

The story features various fairytale stereotypes – a princess, a knight, a wolf, and a dragon. The princess and the knight fall in love very quickly but only after a sparky first encounter where they immediately reject the idea of getting married and have a fight instead. The twist in the wolf and dragon’s tale is more original. While the start of the story shows a princess and a knight that are both stereotypical, the narration shows the wolf chasing butterflies with a net and the dragon blowing soap bubbles. As stereotypes, the wolf and dragon are male, yet they fall in love at first glance and their first kiss – the only one in the whole book – takes centre stage on the only double spread that has no text.
