Comment:

This short novel takes a long-told story about princes and princes and adds a queer twist – instead of a prince and a princess, the main love interests are a prince and the brother of a princess. Through witty dialogue and cute imagery, the authors Linda de Haan and Stern Nijland explore the themes of gender and sexuality, showing young readers that no matter who they are attracted to, they are worthy and valid. Through using the stereotypical narrative and adding a homosexual relationship, the authors easily point out the stereotypes and prejudices still instilled in our society, while showing that love comes in endless forms.
