Isabella Paglia’s simple and understandable language is accompanied by Francesca Cavallaro’s funny drawings. They tell a sweet story that makes one smile and reflect on the different ways there are to “arrive” in a family: by natural conception, by medically-assisted procreation, and by being adopted. The book deals in a simple and pleasant way with some topics that unfortunately still have little room in Italian children’s literature (adoption, medically assisted procreation). However, the models presented exclude other types of families, in particular queer families. In addition, unfortunately the ending still shows the model of an exclusively caring and affective motherhood.
