Fruitloops and dipsticks

Summary:

Simone is a 12-year-old girl who has to start in a new school because of her mother’s new boyfriend, a seemingly dull man. In protest, she cuts her hair off and that’s when the trouble really begins.

Comment:

This is a coming-of-age/gender identity novel about a girl called Simone who is mistaken for a boy by her teacher when she starts at her new school (hence the name Simon). Simone comes to accept her family’s – and her own – eccentricities, and learns a lot about life and love.
