Summary:

Ajda and Voranc are best friends and classmates. They go to school together every day, and they also hang out together in their free time. Ajda’s family is wealthy, but Voranc and his mother, who live a much more modest life, are always welcome at their home. They live on a nice street, marred only by an old, abandoned and crumbling villa. One day, on the way to school, Ajda and Voranc encounter an unusual woman wearing a hat with sunflowers sticking out of it. She moves strangely, speaks strangely, and claims that the crumbling Villa Anna is her home. And she seems to know things about them that they don’t even know about themselves. Just where did she come from? And who exactly is she? How does she even live? After their initial apprehension, Voranc and Ajda become closer to the unusual old woman, but this leads to an avalanche of problems that also reveal long-kept secrets. (source: publisher)

Comment:

A beautiful, moving story about tolerance, compassion, and overcoming obstacles. The novel Sunflower among other important topics touches on the power of friendship, the courage to stand up for yourself and others, and facing suppressed problems. (source: publisher)
