Summary:
Iina has a lot going on. School is stressing her out, because she should raise her grades for further studies. At the same time Iina takes care of her boyfriend Tuukka, who is struggling with depression and can’t cope by himself. She’s also looking after a mysterious animal Dodo she found and takes under her care. Fortunately, Iina’s life with struggles is brightened up by her best friend Sara, who is also Tuukka’s ex-girlfriend. On the other hand, it is Sara who awakens feelings in Iina that make her words jumble and her heart beat faster. Can one love two people at the same time and equally as much? When Iina’s mother forces her to go to her father’s house in the countryside for the summer, she has time to reflect on her relationships and her dreams.

The verse novel addresses mental health issues, family, relationships and blossoming feelings. Iina’s boyfriend is severely depressed and it’s tough for Iina’s wellbeing as well. When Iina’s mother finds out that it has been affecting her schoolwork, she sends her to the countryside for the summer. The family has been separated because of Iina’s fathers’ alcoholism, and Iina is feeling bitter as her father always chose booze over her. A summer in the country gives Iina time to study and think. She ponders her own sexual orientation, as she has discovered that she is in love with her friend Sara. The book also explores different types of relationships.
