Summary:
14-year-old Amalia Aaltonen has moved to a small town close to her grandparents. Her single parent father has been in an accident and cannot work. In the new town, Amalia already has a boyfriend, Jimi, and one friend, Louna, who is interested in horoscopes and fortune telling. When Jimi turns out to be a chauvinist, Amalia ends things with him. Together with Louna, Amalia comes up with a clever plan to show his ex that girls can do anything. However, the plans get disrupted when Jimi’s bandmate Max, a mysterious social media follower and Amalia’s mother who unexpectedly shows up in town, all mess up with Amalia’s mind.

The novel describes the life and feelings of a girl who is in the middle of smaller and bigger changes. Amalia and her father have trouble adjusting to their new home town. Everyday life has become different: her father can’t work anymore as a police officer because of the accident, so their family’s income has also decreased. Father also suffers from chronic pain. Amalia’s mother shows up unexpectedly in the middle of the new situation. Mother has not been involved much in the family life, so living together is not easy for any of the three. Amalia’s feelings are mixed also by his ex-boyfriend and new crushes. Amidst her own relationships, Amalia begins to understand the choices of her young parents, who had her when they were only 16.
