(Amazing Women) Book not yet available in English
Summary:
In her book Amazing Women, part of the Pa to ni res! (No way!) series, author Lučka Lučovnik shines a spotlight on women who played a crucial role in shaping history and changing it for the better. The journey begins in prehistoric times, where the first “amazing women” were cavewomen. It was only recently that scientists discovered that women went on hunts just as often as men, though their methods were slightly different. Among the women who left a lasting mark on history are also Slovenian trailblazers Franja Bojc Bidovec and Alma Karlin. A globe-trotter, Karlin embarked on a solo tour of the world, writing about her many fascinating adventures in numerous books that remain popular even today. (Špela Činkelj, Knjižnica Kočevje)

Comment:
The book takes readers through different historical periods, all sharing one thing in common: they were shaped by women who dared to challenge the norm and take a stand for a more equitable society. Each chapter also includes a suggested “amazing” activity for young readers to try on their own or with the help of an adult. The text is enhanced by Maruša Žemlja’s illustrations and is carefully designed according to dyslexia-friendly style recommendations. (Špela Činkelj, Knjižnica Kočevje)
