“I didn’t want to assume that I know about the problems or issues that someone is going to face when they are an LGBT child, so I thought more about the gender issue and tried to write about a point of view that I remember thinking about in primary school, and that is: boys can’t wear the same things as us, poor things, they have much less variety of clothes. It’s a book that’s very positive because it’s about a boy who really likes dresses and there’s no problem, there’s no drama.”
