Summary:
The little boy has a new friend, Pina. She says that there are no colours just for boys or just for girls. And anyway, everyone can wear whatever they want. Then Pina stays overnight and the children dress up because they want to have a disco. The next morning, the father brings two beautiful disco dancers to the nursery. But a boy dressed in girls’ clothes leads to discussions. Eventually, the father gets into an argument with his friend and in the end, even the children are angry. The next morning, the father drags a whole bag full of clothes to the nursery – enough for everyone to dress up. Since the children want to have a really colourful time, with glitter and all the trimmings. It really doesn’t matter which colours and clothes the girls wear and which the boys wear.

Gender stereotypes are addressed here with a light touch and a dash of humour: with a short text to read aloud and vivid pictures that contain a few digs that even grown-ups could take to heart. In any case, the picture-book-like resolution is a start… (Stiftung Lesen, Deutsches Schulportal)
