Minna Canth (1844–1897) was a Finnish writer and social activist. Canth’s life’s work has greatly influenced the development of equality and education in Finland. She has also written famous plays, such as Työmiehen vaimo (“The Worker’s Wife”). The day of Minna Canth and Equality is celebrated in Finland on 19th of March. Finland has official flag days and national flag days designated in the calendar. Canth is the first woman to receive her own flag day in Finland.
