Víla Vivivíla a stíny zvířat

(Fairy Vivivíla and the animal shadows) Book not yet available in English

Summary:

With the curious fairy Vivivíla, we set off from her fairy home on an adventurous journey to Břevnov, where she meets the clever Ema, her grumpy dog Raf, the slightly clumsy Pepík, and his squirrel. This strange group, which seems to need help itself, finds such strength in their friendship that they save a bunch of animals and each other. They do need a little help from an empty-headed giant, but that doesn’t diminish their courage in any way. You won’t believe it, but anything can happen at night in Břevnov.

Comment:

This fairy tale differs from typical children’s stories and avoids any kind of stereotypical thinking. It highlights the importance of healthy communities and friendships, accepting help from others, and that it is okay to ask for help. The characters in the book are not influenced by the fact that someone might label them as strange at first glance just because they are different, and they remain true to themselves. This proves to be a great advantage and strength, because it is precisely thanks to their diversity that they are able to achieve great things.
