The story of three women linked by their passion for investigative journalism traces the changing role of women in society, thanks also to the perseverance and daring of Nellie Bly, the first reporter who contributed to the recognition of equal employment rights and freedom of expression. The book focuses on women’s courage and desire to tell the truth, and to achieve emancipation. At the same time, it is also marked by the determination to find one’s own identity and self-fulfilment. The story also explains in a concise way how even the work of caring is strongly stereotyped. The long road towards gender equality is still a complex and sensitive issue to explain to a pre-teen student of the 21st century (Generation Z). Nevertheless, through the clever story of Nellie Bly, the writer, Sara Rattaro, uses simple and clear words to illustrate the importance not only of the social revolution for human and women’s rights but, above all, of female emancipation and empowerment.
