Summary:
When Paula was born, everyone thought she was a boy, but she knew better. The day her mother dies, her problems begin since her father and grandmother, with whom she is forced to live, do not seem willing to accept her true identity. Her grandmother gets angry with her, and takes away the doll her aunt gave her because she thinks that a doll is not an appropriate toy for a boy. One day, while playing with a ball, Paula meets Laura, a girl of her same age. They become close friends. The girls get into trouble when they enter the village church and get involved in a mysterious robbery that they will have to solve. Will Paula manage to solve the mystery, succeed in her adventure, and be accepted as she is by her family?

A book that takes readers to Paula’s world, a girl who was assigned male sex at birth. However, after the early death of her mother, she decides to be who she really is and wants to be. The protagonist narrates what she feels and what surrounds her in the first person and with strong realism. Paula, who everyone calls Pablo, faces the loneliness of mourning. Nevertheless, she consolidates little by little her identity as a girl, strengthening herself and resolving the conflict between strangeness and acceptance that arises in family and social relationships. Undoubtedly, this volume can enable boys and girls to understand identity issues.
