Summary:
The end of primary school is approaching, and an exciting summer is in store for our main heroine, who carefully writes everything down in her diary. Her mother becomes a Member of Parliament, and her newly divorced aunt, trying to find her way forward and keep a somewhat tidy home at the same time, moves in with them. Just like her aunt, who is constantly torn between the extremes, our heroine must grow up and face the consequences of her actions. First love, summer flirtations, and midnight wanderings are all documented by the main heroine with a heap of humour and mystery. (source: publisher)

This humorous and sincere confession is written by a teenager, a modern girl who does not know how to cook and is not good at housework but is very good at observing people and the relationships between them. Especially adults, who she thinks are even more pliable and fickle than teenagers. Our heroine’s originality, individuality, independence, and cleverness are revealed when we read her holiday diary, where we can also see her sense of humour, her self-respect and self-confidence, and her reflective mind, quite critical of her surroundings. The fifteen-year-old wants to be an artist, a celebrity, and a teacher, and because of that, she spends a lot of time reading. Although one of her interests is high fashion as well, she is not obsessed with how she looks. She is surrounded by several confident and determined women. Her mother is in politics because, as a protester and feminist, she is convinced that there are absolutely too few women in parliament. We also get to know her feisty aunt Karmen, a woman who always tells it like it is, and who becomes a sort of surrogate mother to her niece after her marriage fails. Last but not least, we get to read about our heroine’s free-spirited and hedonistic friend Kristina, a guiding light in our main character’s life as she grows up. Together with a group of friends, they experience their last summer before entering high school and grow up in the process. A compelling look into how adolescents feel and think, written by a gifted girl when still in primary school.
