(Why do you have two mums?) Book not yet available in English

Summary:

Meri and Franci love each other and decide to expand their family. But they are two women: how can they do this? Luckily, in the Netherlands there are some people who can help them. So, they give birth to their children, first Margherita, then the twins Giorgio and Raffaela, and finally Antonio, and they all grow up happily with their mothers and cats.

Comment:

The book explains in simple and clear words what it means to have two mums: how this happened and how the life in this family flows similar to that of any other. A story that helps adults and children to clear their minds. The series “Piccola storia di una famiglia” (Small story of a family) contains books which deal with different forms of parenting. The publishing house Lo Stampatello was established with the specific aim to fill a gap in the Italian publishing market for children – the absence of representations of queer families. Perché hai due mamme? (“Why do you have two mums?”) is the book that inaugurated the publishing house, and from which the series “Piccola storia di una famiglia” was born.
