Summary:
Once upon a time there were a mum and a dad who loved each other very much, and who were able to enjoy together also the simple pleasures. But they didn’t have a son or a daughter, and they thought it was their fault. One day, however, one of the neighbours notes that their unhappiness depends on the fact that they can’t fish. So, she gives them some balls of wool, which the couple uses to hang photos of themselves, and later let them fly in a windy day. The wires will come back to them with three children of all colours.

Among many children’s books on family, this has the great merit of dealing with the story of two adoptive parents and adopted children with a delicate style. In particular, the theme of international adoption is presented in a very natural and delicate way for readers from the age of three. But adoption is not the only issue addressed here: the book talks about the love between a man and a woman, the happiness of feelings, the poignant desire to complete a couple with a new life, the solidarity, and the open-mindedness towards a world that is extremely vast and rich both from a cultural and human point of view.
