Summary:
When he is arrested for the femicide of Stella, Cesare is only 15 years old. From his jail cell, he shares with us the thoughts, memories, and obsessions of a story of control and possession masked as romantic love. Anger and sorrow, certainties and regrets are mixed in a diary that retraces what Cesare first built and then destroyed.

Mia (Mine) originates from a project focused on sentimental education and prevention of difficult situations. This project consisted in “workshops to communicate emotions through writing,” and it involved both Italian and foreign schools. The author asked girls and boys to imagine themselves as victims of any form of abuse, and to describe how such condition made them feel, starting from what they imagined, observed, or experienced. Therefore, the characters, the plot, and the language of this book originated from the stories collected and filtered by the author. Mia is one of the very few novels conceived in Italy for girls and boys of this age group on the theme of femicide. It also has the great merit of presenting the story from the point of view of the murderer, and of revealing with poignant clarity and no rhetoric the origin and mechanisms of a desire for control and domination, which has nothing to do with love.
