Binny for short

Summary:

It’s been three years since Binny’s father died and she lost her dog Max. Now eleven, Binny is still finding it difficult to adjust to her new life. When Binny’s family have the opportunity to move to a seaside cottage, a new start awaits, but Binny cannot get passed her dream of getting her dog Max back again.

Comment:

Binny is a feisty, determined main character with much depth, who resists gender stereotypes and expectations without heavy-handedness. Grief, loss, and vulnerability for a young girl are explored, yet Binny is centre of all action in narrative. Intergenerational bonding between Binny and older ladies suggest the potential of such relationships.
