Summary:
Emily and her bunny Stanley are trying to get to sleep but they keep getting disturbed by the “Thing” crying outside their window. Emily and Stanley embark on a series of adventures to find everything it needs for a good night’s sleep, but nothing seems to work. What is troubling the Thing, and why can’t it get to sleep?

This book, which gives its girl character her full name in the title, focuses on the girl’s bravery. The heroine is powerful and fearless and reassures and comforts the scared “Thing.” There is also an important focus on difference here, as things that are different are shown not to be frightening.
