Summary:
In the Russian wilderness, where winter is long and the cold has frozen everything, Vasilisa lives with her family. She spends her evenings huddled around the warmth of the fire, surrounded by her beloved loved ones, and listening to her nanny’s tales. Her favorite tale is about Frost, the blue-eyed winter demon who appears on icy winter evenings to take away unwary souls. The nanny tells her that wise people fear him and that honoring the spirits protects their home from evil. Vasilisa faces trials that she must overcome thanks to her hidden gifts and realize that fairy tales can also be reality.
Danger approaches, and Vasilisa must confront even her loved ones, summoning dangerous gifts she has long suppressed. Could it be that the nanny’s scariest tales actually turn out to be reality?

This book is the first of the Winternight trilogy, reading which takes you to Russia and feels like you’re in a fairy tale told by a grandmother, snuggled up warmly by the stove and experiencing those magic and mystical legends about the guardian of the home, the winter demon, and all those creatures that we all think only exist in fairy tales.
