On Sudden Hill
Two boys are best friends and play on Sudden Hill everyday. One day, another kid arrives, and wants to play imaginary games in the cardboard boxes too. This book tells the story of what happens when a new friend joins the group.
In this narrative centring on friendship between boys, complex emotions surrounding feeling pushed out of a friendship are explored, such as sadness and anger. Each emotion is explored with sensitivity and nuance, and is emphasised as a valid response.
