Comment:

The Olivia series of books is well-known for its representation of the irrepressible main character, Olivia, who is depicted in a way different from how female characters are typically represented in books for young children. The book features a series of unfortunate episodes where Olivia’s boisterousness and inquisitiveness get her into tricky situations, usually the reserve of books aimed specifically at boys and featuring boy characters.
