Summary:
Sara Allen is a ten-year-old girl who lives in Brooklyn, New York. She wants to go alone to Manhattan so as to bring her grandmother a strawberry cake. This modern Little Red Riding Hood’s grandmother has been a Music Hall singer and has been married several times. Mr Wolf is a multimillionaire pastry chef who lives near Central Park in a pie chart skyscraper. However, this magical story focuses on Miss Lunatic, an ageless beggar who lives hidden in the Statue of Liberty during the day and who comes out at night to mediate misfortunes.

Caperucita en Manhattan [Little Red Riding Hood in Manhattan] is a modern tale, a contemporary fable and a fiction having a real background. The author uses this popular children’s tale to convey the loneliness of life in big cities. Moreover, she uses the story to warn against dangers streets and people can hide, as if they were dark forests.
