Summary:
Grace Salter begins to uncover the sad story of the previous tenant of the house she and her family have just moved into. Lucy Moynihan, a girl of the same age, was expelled from the town with her family because she accused a group of local boys of rape. But Lucy wasn’t making it up, so how is it possible that she didn’t get justice? She and a group of new friends form a secret society called Nowhere Girls, where the girls share their often brutal life stories and fight against the misogyny that reigns at their high school. Together, they find the strength to face the obstacles that fate and society put in their way.

The story responds to the current reality of many young girls and depicts the issue of sexual violence, which society often turns a blind eye to. It is precisely this trivialization and indifference that the author draws attention to. She shows that it is not enough to refrain from committing violence, but that it is necessary to name it and stand up to it. The girls in this book do this through the association they form together. We see how, despite disagreements and rifts within the group, they find community, solidarity, and empathy.
