Comment:
The book is in the vein of the classic fairy tale, rather than trying to adapt or subvert the fairy tale. The princess is a typical princess, who is pretty and wants to find a prince, but who is also independent, self-reliant, and has depth of character. Significantly, this book does not belittle the dreams associated with the typical princess story but adds depth and meaning to these desires.
