This is a book about a girl who likes to do things that make people think she is a boy. This girl is very proud to be a girl and likes to tell everyone she meets that she is a girl!

The book focuses primarily on undoing stereotypes associated with girls. The exuberant character’s assertion of being a girl takes precedence throughout the book. The book not only shows the girl exhibiting characteristics typically associated with boys, but also shows the character engaging in play more usually associated with girls. The idea that any conceptualisation of being a girl is positive, and not just that that deviates from the norms and stereotypes, is important. The gendered confines placed on boys is also gestured towards throughout.
